FEED: Adjusts the amount of signal fed from the output back into the input, creating more and more repeats. Set it to minimum for just one repeat or crank it to the maximum for some mild self-oscillation.
MIX: Changes the ratio of your input signal to the Rando’s effect. Set minimum, only the input signal will be heard. At maximum, only the effect’s signal can be heard.
MOD-RATE: Adjusts the modulation rate on the clean delay path that melds seamlessly with the randomization for loads of extra character.
RANDO: This knob mixes in the time-randomized delay line; set to zero, only the clean line will be heard. Set to maximum, only the randomized delay line will be heard.
DLY TIME: Adjusts the time of the clean delay line. The random delay line’s time is what is being randomized, so that side is not affected by this control.
The Rando (Proto 7) accepts a pedal-standard center-negative DC plug capable of supplying between 9 and 18 volts, with at least 64mA of current (over is fine). Anything other than that (higher than 18, center-positive, AC, etc.) will cause the Pads to function improperly, with the worst case scenario being that your pedal is ruined. Can’t recommend it.
Not a day goes by at HQ where we’re not tinkering with something on our breadboards. Our engineers have piles of passion projects they work on between other projects. Sometimes those projects are victims of part obsolescence, while other times they don’t reach the final stage because of plain old indecisiveness. A few designs have never seen the light of day because they may appeal to a narrower audience than our regular stuff, or they might have never seen a logical opening in the release schedule.
